Role title: Internship – Project Support

Contract type: Fixed-term, Part-time (22.5 hours)

Location: Office based in Oldham, Greater Manchester with potential travel around the UK.

Start date: 1st October 2026.

Salary: £26k FTE (pro-rata 22.5 hours)

Role summary:

Shared Health Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which is passionate about reducing the impact of poverty on health. We are clinically-led and evidence-based.

We are brave, determined and solutions-focused and are absolutely committed to raising awareness and bringing change for the experiences of families who are homeless living in Temporary Accommodation. The wider Shared Health team focuses on training GPs to work in deprived neighbourhoods, supporting families psychologically with a small child and a variety of other health inequalities strands. This role will be supporting all aspects of the organisation’s priorities.

Shared Health has been advocating for change since 2018 and is proud to have been able to influence the conversation around homeless families in Greater Manchester, and nationally, through being co-secretariat of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Households in Temporary Accommodation. 

The successful candidate will be organised, good at problem solving, and be able to think ahead and foresee problems that can be avoided. They will be able to balance a workload that could involve several different priorities and be able to support the rest of the advocacy and clinical team. They will also demonstrate flexibility and the ability to step out of their comfort zone in tackling new challenges.

Main responsibilities:

  • Organise room bookings and logistics for events held by Shared Health Foundation, finding cost-effective solutions for meetings and conferences across the country.
  • Co-ordinate travel solutions
  • Support the event planning and running for around 5-10 small to medium events a year, including venue management, advertising, booking catering, etc.
  • Preparing and writing briefs for the senior team in a variety of areas.
  • Assisting in analysing government statistics and data.
  • Support the senior team in any other administrative duties.

Person Specification

We’re looking for someone who:

● Is passionate about reducing health inequalities and has a heart for social justice.

● Is highly organised, has strong digital literacy and is comfortable in coordinating multiple projects.

● Communicates clearly, constructively and collaboratively.

● Is flexible in what they can do as well as discerning in prioritising tasks.

Qualifications

Desirable

– Politics or other Humanities subjects, either A-level or GCSE.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

– Understanding of UK politics and current affairs.

– Time management.

Desirable

– Fluency using Microsoft platforms

Other

Essential

– Building good relationships.
